A typical application is to the subsidiary circuits in an electric cooker, or portable electrical equipment. The circuit ensures that if the current in a principal load is as high as the supply can safely carry, then any additional loads, whether connected or not, at the time, are automatically switched out. A current sensor and measuring device (4) in the circuit between the main load (1) and the supply (5) controls a contact (6) in one lead to a secondary load (2). The secondary load may, for example, be a socket outlet on a cooker. A cascade connection may be employed whereby a second current sensor (4') controls a contact (6') in the lead to a further load (3) of low order.
|
