Water wheel type pump for irrigation purposes - is rotated by water pressure and gravity with minimum additional energy requirement

A large circular wheel has a number of waterways (1-25) around its periphery which run between rollers (37). On one side water is pumped into them at high pressure. This produces a turbine action which causes the ring to revolve. After half a revolution the waterways reach a discharge trap (30) into which the water is emptied. It runs by gravity back to its original source. The weight of the waterways on the remaining half of the wheel produces an additional turning movement. The wheel is not entirely self propelling because of the friction of the rollers. It therefore receives additional energy from a cheap off peak electric source and can be used to return the energy at peak periods.
