WASTE GAS COOLER FOR CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To protect the surface on the fluid side from high temps. and to prevent the generation of cracks due to abrasion by dust and a thermal shock by providing a thermally sprayed metallic layer for bonding on the surface of a cooler on the waste gas side, and further providing a thermally sprayed ceramic layer. CONSTITUTION:A part or the whole of the surface 6 and 6' of a finned tube on the waste gas side of a waste converter gas cooler is activated, and a metallic material such as Ni-Al is thermally sprayed on the surface as a bonding material to form the first layer 7 and 7'. Then a desired ceramic is thermally sprayed to coat the surface with a thin-walled layer 8 and 8'. Alternatively, a mixture of the bonding material and the ceramic is thermally sprayed to obtain an intermediate layer between both layers 7 and 7' and 8 and 8', and a half bonding layer 10 and 10' is formed. The pores 9 and 9' of the ceramic thin-walled layer 8 and 8' are reinforced at need with the fine particles of the ceramic. Consequently, the durability of the cooler is improved.
