1489946 Aerobic fermentation apparatus SOC D'ASSISTANCE TECHNIQUE POUR PRODUITS NESTLES A 8 May 1975 [28 May 1974] 19396/75 Heading C6F An apparatus for the aerobic culture of microorganisms comprises a loop with an ascending side and a descending side connected at an upper level and a lower level in which the ascending side comprises a fermentation zone 2 containing means 12 for injecting gas at its lower end and means for mechanically propelling and mixing a culture broth, e.g. sets of inclined paddles 7, 8, 9, 10 on a shaft 3 driven by motor 6. The apparatus may also comprise a restricted passage at the top of the fermentation zone embodying a back-pressure valve 15. The descending side of the loop may contain a degassing means, e.g. cyclone 18, and a pipe 21 for the recovery of the degassed broth. The gas may be air or 02, and may be injected through a set of horizontal pipes drilled with small holes. |
