A process for the preparation of thio-derivatives of vanadium of the formula: Ycp2 (SR)n wherein cp represents cyclopentadienyl, R is an alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl radical and n is an integer equal to 1 or 2, consisting of reacting vanadium-dicyclopentadienyl with a disulphide of the formula S2R2 wherein R has the aforesaid meaning, and the products obtained thereof. These products are useful as polymerization catalysts.
