<p>The ship is designed to have a completely flat deck (13) with all operating services at the stern. The bow (18) is provided with a drop down door which is water-tight when up and which forms a ramp between quay side (48) and deck when down. Side loaders (2) are used to transport the containers up the ramp and onto the deck, the containers are then being positioned over vertical holds (11) and lowered into place. This is done by means of a lifting crane fitted onto the side loader, this incorporating a cable operated winch. Loading is done directly by the side loader without any intervening operations.</p> |
