PURPOSE:To contrive the elimination of a cooling fan from a printer and reductions in size, weight, cost and noise, by using a piezoelectric element as a drive source for the operations of the printer. CONSTITUTION:To drive a carrier 4, a piezoelectric motor 6-1 to excite a voltage with a predetermined driving frequency, whereby each vibrator 6a is vibrated to set a guide rail 2 into a flexural vibration, and an elastic surface wave is generated, and is transmitted along the rail 2. Since the carrier 4 has plates 12, 15 pressed against the guide rail 2, it is driven to move under the transmission of the surface wave and a frictional force arising from the pressing. Rotation of a paper-feeding motor 17 is transmitted to a platen 8, whereby a printing paper 9 is fed by a required amount. The motor 17 consists of a rotary-type piezoelectric motor. With a voltage impressed on a piezoelectric element 41, a top piece 43 is displaced in the direction of an arrow F, a rotational displacement generating part 44 is rotated in the direction of an arrow G with a center point 42c as a center, and a printing action is performed by a printing wire 46 through a lever 45. Accordingly, all of the drive sources for the operations of a printer are piezoelectric elements, and little heat is generated in the printer. |
