<p>A protective sheath is used to cover splices etc. in telecommunications cables. The sheath provides a complete seal for such cables and consists basically of two half cylinders (1, 2) made of a plastics material. The mating edges of the two halves are tongued and grooved (11, 12) and include a deformable sealing material. The two halves are held in place by screw (10) tightened circumferentially straps (9) at both ends and along their length. Sealing at the sheath ends around the cable is through compartments containing suitable packing and sealing materials (4, 5).</p> |
