Reciprocating compressor driven by swash plate - which is mounted on motor shaft and projects inside piston skirt

A compressor has a reciprocating piston (13) sliding in a cylinder (2) which is attached to the frame of an electric motor. The shaft of the electric motor carries a swash plate (18) mounted on roller bearings. The swash plate fits inside the skirt of the piston and it is clamped between the flat surfaces of two balls (14) which are located in sockets near the piston wall. The rotation of the motor shaft (20) is thus able to impart a reciprocating motion to the piston.
