Mining tunnel wall lining arrangement - for concentrating load upon main supports using folded interlocking sheet metal strip

The sheet metal mining tunnel wall lining consists of rectangular sheet metal strips with one edge folded downwards whilst the other end has an upwards folded configuration. One end of each fold has at one corner a folded lip bent at approximately 45 deg. to the longitudinal plane direction. The sheets interlock after insertion of an downwards bent edge into an upwards bent edge. The folded lip serves as a final locking arrangement. The method provides a stabilised tunnel lining unit. Sheet metal thickness may be 1.5 mm, whilst the average sheet width is approximately 615 mm. The unit is supported on I beams of the mine road-way support.
