The eccentric of a profile straightening machine is adjusted by a play free mechanism. The gear wheel (2) of a self locking adjusting drive is connected firmly with the eccentric housing (1) held on the eccentric shaft. The driving worm (5) is fitted within the housing (4) which in turn is keyed to the eccentric shaft (3). The driving work drives the adjusting worm wheel (2). The worm remains fixed even if the eccentric housing is adjusted while the eccentric shaft is stationary. The precision setting is carried out by means of a scale read at the operating station. Bolts (7) are released for adjusting the eccentric setting.
