Injectable antiinflammatory and analgesic salts - of alpha-methyl-4-thienoyl-phenylacetic acid with basic amino acids

New salts are of formula (I). In (I) Z is -(CH2)n-NH2 or -(CH2)n-NH-C(=NH)-NH; and n is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. (I) combined high water-solubility with low toxicity and are therefore suitable for administration by injection. Specific salts (I) include L-arginine-alpha-methyl-4-(2-thienylcarbonyl)phenylacetate. In an example, this is prepd. refluxing a solution of 43.5 g L-arginine in 150 ml water with a solution of 65 g alpha-methyl-4-(2-thienylcarbonyl)-phenylacetic acid.
