The rotating cylinder piston engine comprises a cylindrical casing (1) housing a concentric rotator (2) embodying three equally spaced radial cylinder barrels (5). Pistons (7) in these have connecting rods to a common big end on a crank on a central shaft (11). Gearing from this drives the rotor at 1/3 shaft speed. Sealing is by outwardly facing spring loaded rings (13) around each cylinder top mounted in carriers (9) bolted to the rotor. Gas flow is through an opening (14) in the carrier; corresponding openings (16, 26) in the casing, appropriately located, have guide bars (15) to retain the rings. An integral fan draws cooling air through axial passages (3) in the rotor; the casing (4) is water cooled.
