The Bowden cable operator is for remote setting of the speed control lever of a motor-driven lawn mower. One end of the Bowden cable (9) is fixed in a slide handle (6) which is guided on a rod or tube (5). The casing of the Bowden cable is guided and is suspended at the appropriate end (13) on the rod or tube. The slide handle (6) consists of a one-piece component of elastic material which grips around the rod (5) or tube at an angle of more than 180 deg. It has a slot of such a width that it can be radially clipped onto the rod.
