CIRCUIT FOR JUDGING OPTIMUM SCANNING METHOD

PURPOSE:To detect different maximum scanning order values for every scanning method without making rearrangement by performing order conversion following the scanning methods by detecting positions of values other than a specific value to which the generation frequency of picture information to be transmitted is concentrated. CONSTITUTION:A non-specific value position detecting means 1 detects the order or a block from the leading block at every time when the means 1 detects data other than '0' existing in each block of inputted picture difference signals DAT and outputs the detected order to maximum scanning order position detecting means 2a-2n. The maximum scanning order position detecting means 2a-2n convert all positions of data other than '0' into scanning order positions for every scanning method and output the maximum scanning order position of the scanning order of non-specific value data to a comparing means 3 at every block. The comparing means 3 compares different maximum order values at every inputted scanning method, discriminates the smallest order value as the optimum scanning method, and outputs a signal indicating the optimum scanning method. Therefore, different maximum order values can be detected at every scanning method.
