The continuous wrapping machine shapes longitudinally seals a horizontal hose from a strip of packing material. A horizontal guide trough for the items to be wrapped precedes the hose-shaping mechanism, and a plate slides in and out of it. The lengthwise sealing unit is followed by a transverse sealing unit with parting mechanism gripping the hose between the items. Two plates (9, 10) slide on strips in line and form hysteresis loops, being actuated by separate drive and guide mechanisms to work hand over hand near the guideL trough (2).
