<p>Low temp. separation of air uses >=1 interchangeable pair of regenerators which are used to exchange heat between part of the incoming air feed stream and part of the separated product, allowing impurities to condense out. A second portion of the feed stream is purified by adsorption and is cooled by a second product stream in a heat exchanger. Both air streams are combined and fed to the separation process. A side stream is taken from the generator before the heat exchange process is completed and fed into the heat exchanger at an intermediate position. The side stream is heated in the exchanger and then mixed with the air stream flowing to the adsorber system. It can also be a product stream. Improves the thermal efficiency of such systems by recovering the excess heat caused by an imbalance of flow without resoring to expensive equipment.</p> |
