Sharpener for metal cutting saw - has grinding wheel with asymmetrical profile to reduce wear of wheel rear face

The teeth of the metal cutting saw blade (1) are sharpened by a motor driven grinding wheel. As each tooth is ground the blade is moved (8) whilst the grinding wheel(6) is oscillated (7). The profile(4) is ground by the rear edge of the wheel whilst the radius (3) and flat edge (2) are ground by the front edge of the wheel (6). To reduce the wear on the rear edge of the wheel the radius of the rear edge is made several times greater than the radius of the front edge. This enables the grinding wheel to be used for longer periods between dressing.
