Pneumatic tube transport system air lock - has suction and blower fan connected between non-return flap valves

The airlock maintains the necessary interval between slugs to allow them to be directed to their various destinations. It comprises a length of tube contg. two or more non-return flap valves, through which the slugs can travel. Between these valves is an air pipe connection to a fan generating either suction or air pressure as required. The length of tube can be bridged by an air bypass. Near the connection to the fan there can be a switch actuated by the slugs, changing over from suction to blower operation, or alternatively the fan can be changed over by a time switch.
