<p>Silica dust, esp. dust obtd. from electric melting furnaces used to mfr. metallic Si or its alloys is treated to increase its density; reduce its tendency to form dust through a ball-, drum-, or rod- mill. The energy employed for milling the dust is pref. >=2 kWh/tonne, esp. 2-5 kWh/tonne; and other substances, e.g. burnt lime, cement, or similar materials, may be added to the mill for mixing with the dust. The processed dust is easier to handle.</p> |
