1442880 Injection moulding machines PATENT & INVENTIONS Ltd 30 Dec 1974 [4 Jan 1974] 56010/74 Heading B5A In an injection moulding machine having a cylinder 8, nozzle 1 and an axially displaceable worm shaft 7, the worm shaft has an opening 10 or circular cross-section extending longitudinally of the shaft from the nozzle end thereof, and a closure body 4 mounted to be stationary within the cylinder 8 and to project into the opening 10 so as to provide a seal between the opening 10 and the bore of the cylinder 8. As shown in the drawing the opening 10 is connected to atmosphere through passages 4a, 3a and 3b. Alternatively the opening 10 may extend through the end of the worm shaft remote from the nozzle. The nozzle 1 is mounted on a carrier 2 provided with one or more passages 2a. A non-return valve comprises a ring 6 located in a groove 5a in a sleeve screwed or otherwise connected to the end of the worm shaft. |
