The piston rods for a hydraulic pump or motor has a tapered shaft with a double spherical end. The smaller end has a blind hole in the sphere, tapped to screw onto the threaded small end. The larger end similarly has a hole tapped in a larger sphere, but the sphere screws up against a shoulder on the larger diameter end. These holes are formed by electro erosion, and are made from commercial ball bearings. Each hole has a clearance gap at the bottom. In an alternative design, the holes are plain holes, and each ball has a spigot which is brazed into the hole.
|
