The method is designed to decode MPM binary coded signals and convert them into NRZ coded signals. The methol includes a series of operations which includes recording of the MPM logic signal value transmitted at a fixed time instant ta in the second hald of a time base T. Recording of the MPM logic signal value transmitted at a fixed time instant tc in the first half of the time base T. Comparison in pairs of the recorded values during two instants, ta of a time base T and tc of the following time base T. Production of a binary signal NRZ of logic value V when the two compared logic values are of complementary value and of value V when they are of the same value.
