The hinge-fitting is for an auto-closing door and has a rotating segmental cam contacting a spring-piston to effect recoil. The door is fixed to a vertical axle-bolt (3) which extends between the post and the lintol of the fixed door frame, and is free to rotate relative to both members. The lintel houses a horizontal cylinder (6) for the piston (13) and also the cammed section of the axle. The cam engages a thrust-plate (25) projecting perpendicularly from the closed end of a hollow piston. The piston and the cylinder contain coil springs which resist displacement of the piston as the cam rotates. The cam may locate between two radial axle-flanges (17) which in turn locate the axle in bearing races (15) between the walls of the cylinder (6).
