1467205 Egg-shell thickening compounds UPJOHN CO 16 May 1975 [10 June 1974] 20969/75 Headings AIM and A2B 1α-hydroxycholecalciferol, and acylates of 2-8 C atoms thereof, is administered to hens to thicken the shells of the eggs they lay. The compound may be included in a feed (e.g. also containing corn meal, soybean meal, fish meal, meat and bone scraps, distillers solubles, alfalfa meal, limestone, salt DL- methionine and vitamins), impregnated in the hen's calcium source e.g. oyster shells, included in the water supply, or combined with an inert carrier e.g. mineral oil and injected into the hen. A preferred feed contains 2.5- 5.5% Ca and 5-20 Ág/lb. of the 1α-hydroxycholecalciferol. |
