Offshore tank installation for liquefied gas - with semi:submersible platform for spherical tank and supply shaft

A tank installation to store liquefied natural gas in offshore regions consists of a semi-submersible structure with a multi-cell platform, which can be floated or ballasted, carrying a spherical storage tank. This can be held at a certain depth by ballasting and anchoring and is equipped with a double-walled supply and inspection shaft which extends to above water level where it carries a deck for a helicopter pad, for supply and loading facilities, and for the mooring of tankers. This plant can be easily moved to another site. All parts are of simple design which can be easily calculated and made. The spherical storage tank has the ideal resistance against the external water pressure and has a good volume-to-surface ratio.
