PURPOSE:To make possible to record two or more states with one kind of a compd., and to improve the recording density of a medium by composing a recording medium of a specified photochromic compd. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer (C) contg. a monomer (A) of the photochromic compd. shown by the formula and its associate (B) is mounted on the medium. In the formula, R1 is -CH2OCOCHnH2n+1 group, R2 is -CmH2m+1 group, (n) and (m) are each a natural number. The monomer A is preferably composed of a mixed film of one or more kinds of compds. selected from a long chain fatty acid, a long chain alcohol and a metal salt of a long chain fatty acid, and the associate B is composed of a single film or preferably the mixed film of a long chain hydrocarbon. And, the recording layer C is composed of a Langmuir-Blodgetts membrane, and a separating layer composed of a prescribed substance is preferably interposed between said layers. |
