Capacitor with overload protection - has outer, tubular layer which expands in case of overload and trips disconnecting device

The capacitor consists of a thin metallisation on a supporting foil, which may burn out if overloaded. There is a dielectric substance filling the case and plastically deformable or melting when heated by a breakdown between metallised layers. The capacitor is covered on its outer surface with a tubular insulating layer whose melting point is lower than that of the dielectric. When the capacitor is overloaded, this insulating layer expands longitudinally, tripping a disconnecting device.
