The bag or box is held apart by a frame and is intended for use as a means to pick up dog droppings which might otherwise fowl the streets, parks etc. The box or bag is brought over the dog droppings and its bottom opening is closed by means of a pulley arrangement through a sheet which is pulled under the dropping. Specifically the device is supported on a rope above the droppings and the arrangement is such that human contact with the droppings is excluded. After covering the droppings, the device is fixed with the foot, the droppings are picked up by pulling on the rope and the device is closed off.
