The control system for a gas fired domestic cooker has an actuating handle for a gas tap. The actuating handle operates, by means of an intermediate actuating element, the switch for the spark ignition of the burner. The switch and the intermediate actuator form a single unit. The unit is held on a pivoted plate clamped by a spring on the housing of the gas tap. The spring is held with an arm and supported by a screw in a slot in the housing of the gas tap. Another arm of the spring is guided into the holder on the hinge plate.
