A clutch system having a dead point clutch (16) for selectively coupling a drive shaft (12) to a gearbox input shaft (18) and a further clutch (20) for selectively coupling the drive shaft (12) to a power take off input shaft (22). The gearbox input shaft (18) is hollow and coaxially and rotatably surrounds the power take off shaft (22). The dead point clutch (16) includes generally axially extending rockers (86) cooperating with an axially slidable dead point clutch control sleeve (114), and the power take off clutch (20) includes radially extending rockers (56) on which is suspended a clutch control collar (60) which is axially slidable with respect to the dead point clutch control sleeve (114) which it coaxially surrounds. The clutches are independently operable, and control collar (115) engages frictional material (140) on a collar (138) fixed to shaft (18) in its release position to brake the shaft. <IMAGE> |
