Ancillary equipment drive for vehicle - has shaft linked to engine main shaft by freewheel clutch

The ancillary equipment on the vehicle is driven by a separate drive (14) via a drive shaft (2). This drive shaft is linked to the main engine shaft (4) by a freewheel clutch to drive the ancillary equipment when the engine speed is high enough, and to provide a separate drive when the engine is idling. Set equipment, e.g. the air compressor, is further fitted with clutches so that drive to these is only provided when required, thus saving noise levels. THe separate drive at engine idling speeds ensures that the ancillary equipment can be of normal capacity.
