PURPOSE:To enable the good continuous bleaching of a web by neutralizing with an acid an alkali remaining in the web after the scouring of the web in a continuous scouring bleaching process, immering the neutralized web in a solution mixed with acetic acid in a constant amount based on the weight of the web and the rate of the processing and subsequently allowing the treated web to pass through a solution containing sodium chlorite. CONSTITUTION:A web continuously second is neutralized with an acid- neutralizing solution mixed with a proper amount of sulfuric acid by an automatic pH-controlling means, washed with water, immersed in an acidic treating solution mixed with a constant amount of acetic acid on the basis of the weight of the web and the rate of the processing without relation to the pH of the web and subsequently allowed to pass through a saturated solution of acid- activated sodium chlorite, thereby permitting the continuous bleaching of the web having an excellent bleaching effect. |
