These alloys, which exhibit excellent mechanical properties, for example tensile strength, are usable especially in the aerospace industry. In addition to magnesium they contain at least, in % by weight, from 1.25 % to 3.0 % of silver, from 0.5 to 3.0 % of a mixture of rare earths comprising at least 60 % of neodymium and from 2.5 to 7 % of yttrium. These alloys additionally contain one or more of the following elements: thorium, zirconium, zinc, cadmium, lithium, calcium, gallium, indium, thallium, lead, bismuth, copper and manganese. They can be employed especially for the manufacture of metal articles by heat treatment, quenching and aging.
