In a motor-driven pump of canned-motor construction with a liquid-filled rotor chamber 11, which is hermetically sealed relative to the pump chamber 10 with the exception of a balance opening, e.g. in the form of a spiral or helical duct 12, the length dimension of the balance opening between the pump and rotor chambers in the direction of flow of the balance liquid is larger than its greatest dimension in the direction at right angles thereto and the volume of the balance opening is greater than the greatest flow volume between the pump and rotor chambers as a result in fluctuations of temperature in the liquid of the pump and rotor chambers and changes in the operating pressure. <IMAGE> |
