PURPOSE:To improve energy storage density and maintenance property by using aprotic positive and negative electrode electrolytes with water and isolating both electrolytes with an anion exchange film. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode chamber with a positive electrode 4 where a positive electrode electrolyte flows and a negative electrode chamber with a negative electrode 5 where a negative electrode electrolyte flows are isolated from each other with an anion exchange film 6a. Positive and negative electrode electrolytes are made respectively from positive and negative active substance and water as solvent. For example, as a positive electrode electrolyte, 2 mole of aqueous solution of FeCl2 is used; as a negative electrode electrolyte, 1.5 mole of aqueous solution of CrCl3 is used. An electrolyte is almost aprotic; its H<+> ion concentration is low; and at the time of charging, H2 gas is not generated on the negative electrode side. As Cl<-> becomes a current carrier, the mix of positive and negative electrolytes is prevented by an anion film. Owing to positive and negative electrode active substance concentration due to the one-way film passage of Cl<->, energy storage density does not drop. |
