The seat belt lock comprises a lock box firmly connected to the vehicle and an insert member or tongue connected the belt which on insertion into the box moves the locking members against spring force out of a rest position and is then locked by the return of these locking members into the rest position. These locking members one designed as locking pins and mounted at 90 deg. to the insert direction of the tongue and are movably guided parallel to it in the locking slots in plates of the lock box which are at 90 deg. to the pins and to the insert direction of the tongue. Guide slots inclined to the lock slots are provided for the locking pins in the movable handle.
