<p>A catch apparatus for a wheeled carriage operating on an inclined track has a pair of rails mounted to form an inclined track and with spaced reinforcing elements therealong. A carriage has wheels mounted on the underside thereof, the wheels being engageable with the rails, and at least one of the wheels has shaft means connected thereto and arranged to rotate therewith. A locking unit is mounted on the carriage, and includes at least one catch hook movable between a tracted position and an active position, the catch hook being arranged to engage with the reinforcing elements along the rails when in the active position thereof. The locking unit includes resilient means arranged to urge the catch hook to move toward the active position, and catch means arranged to releasably secure the catch hook in the retracted position for normal operation of the carriage. A sensing unit is mounted on the carriage and is associated with the catch means and the shaft means. The sensing unit is effective to release the catch means when the rotary speed of the one wheel exceeds a predetermined value. The sensing unit includes a drive shaft rotatably mounted on the underside of the carriage, means interconnecting the drive shaft with the shaft means effective to rotate the drive shaft in response to rotation of the one wheel, a sensing disk mounted on the drive shaft, a sliding clutch connecting the sensing disk with the drive shaft, a spring actuated release weight eccentrically attached to the sensing disk and adapted upon exceeding of a predetermined value of the rotary speed of the one wheel to be moved radially outwards into a projecting, triggering position, and an operating lever mounted on the underside of the carriage in a position to be engaged by the release weight when such is in the triggering position and the disk is rotating. The operating lever is normally engaged with the catch means for securing the catch hook in the retracted position, and is movable by the release weight when engaged thereby to release the catch means, whereby the catch hook is freed to engage the reinforcing elements for stopping the carriage.</p> |
