Cassette for flexible video disc with reader - has pre-stabilising platter in cassette preventing contact with disc face

A cassette for a flexible video disc recording permits the disc to be handled and introduced into reader without being touched by an operator. A pre-stabilising platten integrated within the cassette prevents contact with disc face during loading and unloading operations. A closed cassette comprising a platten (301) and cover (302) is introduced into a reader via a slot. Sides (307) of cover enter fixed slides (303) on reader and fingers (305) enter slots (304) without stopping introduction movement. The fingers press platter against fixed platter (306) and act against spring (309) loaded pistons (308) to grip the platter. The disc is then free to rotate.
