<p>Water soluble acetylated glucopeptides (I) are prepd. from lysed Pseudomonas aeruginosa cells. They have a molecular weight between 500 and 200,000 and contain >=20% buiretogenic material and >=25% neutral monosaccharides. (I) contains no diaminopimelic acid and has UV absorption maxima at 210 and 260 mu. Glucoproteins of mol. wt. >300,000 extracted from Lysed P. aeruginosa are submitted to acetolysis, usually with a mixt. of acetic anhydride, acetic acid, and sulphuric acid. The crude acetylated prod. is treated with an organic solvent, such as chloroform, and the aq. phase undergoes diafiltration using a porous membrane which retains material of mol. wt. >500. The soln. not passing the membrane contains (I).</p> |
