<p>The safety nut has internal controllable locking. On its active face there is a cylindrical screw thread (D). This becomes conical from the base of openings, castellations or stops. These are equidistant (2a) to (2f) and are provided in the upper part of the nut. The threading is made conical, approaching gradually the nut axis at an angle alpha, easily made on modern threading machinery. The degree of locking given is determined by the angle of the thread coning. The method is particularly applicable to cylindrical nuts in light weight structures.</p> |
