The desired ticket is selected by means of a keyboard (1, 2, 3, 4). The corresponding selling price, which is stored in a data memory (6), is indicated on an indicator device (8). The date/clock time and a keyword for the location of the appliance are stored in a second memory (23). A signal generator (31) transmits the amounts of received coins to an adding unit (30) which adds these amounts to the receipt surplus likewise stored in the second memory (23). Two subtracting units (32, 33) accordingly subtract the amounts of coins dispensed as change from change amounts which are stored in the second memory (23) and which are still present in the appliance. Input devices (36 to 38) transmit to the second memory (23), when an empty cassette for the receipt surplus is inserted, a code number assigned to this cassette, together with the zero amount and, when a full change magazine is inserted, a code number assigned to this, together with the filling amount. By the change-over of a change-over device (17, 18) protected against unauthorised actuation, selectable units (24 to 27) of the second memory (23) are connected to the indicator device (8) by means of the keyboard (1 to 4). A simple and rapid check of the receipt surplus, of the dispensed or still present change amounts and of further operating and sales data of the appliance is thereby possible. <IMAGE>
