<p>Porous flexible hoses (e.g. irrigation hoses, etc.) are made with walls of solid rubber or plastics material traversed at intervals by fibrous cords alongside which liquid can pass by capillary action. The cords may be continuous, e.g. following undulating, annular or helical paths stitched around the pipe with internally and externally exposed loops, or may be discontinuous short lengths, opt. incorporated in a semi random pattern with a pronounced radial orientation. Opt. the walls also incorporate reinforcement cords. The pores are not as susceptible to choking as finely perforated hose walls.</p> |
