<p>The antennae consists of a number of telescopic tubes (A1, A2, A3) of epoxy resin impregnated carbon fibres. The antenna is coupled into the R.f. circuitry via a metal sleeve (1) around the base of the lowest element and may include an inductance winding (2) for length compensation. Connection between successive elements is achieved without the use of terminating sleeves but by direct contact between them. Each element may have a protective outer layer except over the contact areas. Erection of the antennae can be by hydraulic or gas pressure, the system lending itself to emergency, mobile and static equipment.</p> |
