The floor of the prefabricated building module is of a sandwich construction with a horizontal layer of flexible material (2) between a base slab (1) and a false slab (3). The walls (5) may be fixed (6) to the false floor slab (3), and demountable fixings (4) coupling the base (1) and floor slab (3) are provided at the corners. The base slab (1) may have screw-jack feet (9) and the sandwich construction provides for controlled loading of the module during transit and handling. The width of the base slab (1) may be sufficient to accommodate a fascade wall (7) with a cavity (8), and the unit may be placed on pre-prepared foundations on site.
