Upholstery button inserting machine - has slotted needle which pushes button loop through cushion for attachment to bottom button half

The machine for inserting upholstery buttons in cushions etc. pushes a loop (11) down inside a hole through the cushion (13), this loop being attached to the top part (9) of the button. The projecting end of the loop is fixed inside a cavity in the head of the bottom part (25) of the button. The loop is first engaged in a slot (8) in a needle (7) which is forced through the hole. The head of the machine has a slide mechanism which delivers the bottom part to the underside of the cushion as the needle is pushed through the hole. This head also has an upper slide system with gripping fingers which feed and position the top part.
