The rotary shears are mounted in a housing into which waste is fed from a funnel mounted above it. The waste which is cut up, falls on a conveyor belt mounted underneath it. The rotors (12, 13) are mounted on two parallel shafts and consist of a number of discs on which cutter sections are mounted, and distance pieces which are mounted between the discs. The discs of one rotor fit between the discs of the other rotor. The housing in which the rotors are mounted consists of two parts (4, 5). One rotor is mounted in one housing half, the other rotor in the other half. The second half (5) can slide on bars (6) against the force of springs (7) if the rotors are overloaded by hard to cut waste.
