The rear-view mirror is positioned in the region of a transparent wind shield (1) which lies in the wearer's angle of view. The mirror area (3, 4, 5) is applied as an adhesive film onto the outside of the transparent wind shield. This mirror area may be applied by galvanic means or by evaporation. The mirror area applied to the wind shield does not have a sharp-edged limitation and the degree of reflection increases continuously from the edge of the mirror area towards the centre or from bottom to top. Due to partial mirror-coating in the mirror area both the image lying before the observer and the rear-view image may be visible, being projected above one another.
