The juke box record selector has a row of compartments for storing the records. A guide extends along the compartments for an interrogation and output unit. This unit has a drive and a keyboard controls the unit. Assigned to each compartment is a code reader aligned to the coding of the record. All the code readers are led to a decoding and control device which starts up the drive when a button is pressed. The output unit is started up when the coding of a record picked up by the code reader is identical to the coding input fed in by the button.
