<p>The sensor is in the form of a washer for a cap-screw and a base (1), and it is designed to receive the force transmitted by the cap-screw. It has further two flanges (3, 4) with an annular gap (15) between them, with a narrower area (16) between the thickened parts of flanges (3, 4). Variations of the narrow gap (16) thickness, synchronous with the engine knocking frequency, generate an AC signal in a winding in the wider gap (15) between flanges. The vibrations of the flanges are excited by a sharp mechanical shock, such as is produced by detonating combustion in the engine cylinders.</p> |
